Events: Free Comic Book Day 2015

We are nearing once again to that annual event participated by comic book lovers. It is none other than the annual Free Comic Book Day (FCBD).

This year FCBD falls on May 2, 2015. Just one day before the biggest fight of Manny Pacquiao starts on our screens here in the Philippines. I have seen 5 comic book stores who will be participating for this year's FCBD.

1st is Planet X Comics. Only the Glorieta branch will be participating. They will give 3 FCBD sponsored comics for free while supplies last. An FCBD Special Sale will also be held.

2nd is Precious Pages who is on their 2nd year of participation in FCBD. However, they made some changes about their activities for FCBD this 2015. That is one has to purchase any item from the participating Precious Pages Bookstore in order to get 1 free comic book from Black Ink Comics.

3rd is Fully Booked. All branches except MarQue Mall, Cebu and Davao will be handing out comics for free. 3 comics will be given at The Bonifacio High Street branch while the rest of the participating branches will be giving away 1 comic for free. Some graphic novels will also be on sale on that day.

4th is Filbar's. It is the Fairview Terraces and SM MegaMall branches only who will be participating. 2 FCBD sponsored comics and 1 Marvel character mask will be given for free per customer. 1 Filbar's Sketchbook Ashcan #2 will given for any single receipt purchase. Selected trade paperback and hardcover graphic novels will be on sale for up to 90% off. FCBD will also be the launch date of Filbar's exclusive Marvel comic boxes. Also, there has been a new system that is going to be put into place called as Filbar's Flash Pass. It is a treat for those guys who will come to Filbar's and initiate the start of those crazy lines, hours before the store opens.

5th is Comic Odyssey. As I'm typing this there is already a guy who has started lining up at 4:32 a.m. this May 1st at the Fort branch, beating last year's time of 2:36 p.m. That is pure dedication to go and start and stay in line for more than 24 hours under the scorching heat of the sun for the love of comics. Well you can't blame that guy for the 1st in line gets to have all 50 sponsored comics for free and a whole lot of other cool stuffs. More freebies will be given up to the 100th person in line. Participating branches of Comic Odyssey will be The Fort, Alabang Town Center, Greenhills and Galleria. 3 FCBD sponsored comics will be given at The Fort branch while the other branches will be giving out 1 FCBD sponsored comics for free. Be sure to be there early to get FCBD Komiks #5 on which the cover was made by Tepai Pascual, creator of Mactan 1521, while the back cover that features Trese was made by Shelly Soneja. Pre-packed comics will also be given to the first 1,000 customers in the Fort branch. It will be given to the 1st 200 customers on the other branches except for the Manila branch. A sale will also be conducted.
