Aside from the numerous warehouse sale that happens this week, I guess this is another important event for a comic lover like me which is the Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) that occurs yearly.
This is an event that is participated by a lot of comic book stores in many countries wherein comic books are given for free. Well not all are free, the FCBD sponsored ones are among those that are free. Conducted along with this is the sale among the different graphic novels, posters, and other merchandises.
One of those participating for FCBD 2014 is Filbar's. Although it will only be the SM Megamall branch that will be joining, in here 2 comic books will be given away for free per customer. They will also have 75% off on 100 trade paperback and hard cover titles. Another nice treat especially if your lucky is that you might be one of the 5 winners who might receive a copy of Amazing Spider-man #1 DCD 2014 Summit LEGO Variant or the 1 lucky winner of a poster print signed by British comic artist Jimmy Cheung.
The next is the first timer in the FCBD scene which is Precious Pages' Black Ink Comics. It is said that they will be giving out 1 comic book per person in all of their Precious Pages' branches for free. It was also made clear that manga or black ink novel is not included in the free give away.
The last comic book store, that I'd like to note, is the one that has the biggest celebration of FCBD here in the Philippines, well that's what I know so far, which is Comic Odyssey. In here 3 FCBD sponsored comics will be given for free in the Fort branch while 1 FCBD sponsored comic will be given for free in the Alabang Town Center and Greenhills branch. Alongside with the FCBD sponsored comic is 1 copy of our locally published FCBD komiks #4 that will also be given away for free. How cool is that! Aside from these freebies, a sale will also occur wherein 20-50% off will be done on all trade paperback or hardcover titles. 20% off on all graphic novels, all action figures/statues/collectibles, complete comic sets z, and posters & t-shirts. 10% off will be done on vintage and premium comics. All back issues will be sold for Php. 100 each except at the Galleria branch wherein all back issues will be sold for Php. 50 each. If your lucky enough to get the 4 free comics, try your luck in winning a prize. Since it is said that they shall conduct a raffle draw wherein prizes will be given away every 5 minutes. 1 raffle ticket can be gotten for every purchase worth Php. 500.
