Comics: Ang Sumpa ~ Kabanata 3: Ang Pakiusap

Andoyman Komiks

"Iniimbestigahan ni Arman Darte, NBI Agent,
ang pagkamatay ni Pangulong Enrique Ortega.
Ngunit mayroong pakiusap
si Madame Estrella Ortega, biyuda ng pangulo.
Papayag kaya si Arman o hindi?"

The Good:
The investigation regarding President Ortega's death continues. The story continues its detective work with Arman as the sole investigator of the case.

A human person is now presented as a suspect in this story. Based from the 2 previous chapters, I would have almost believed that this would be a paranormal story if it wasn't for the appearance of that suspect.

The Bad:
The cover wasn't that striking. It appears to be overloaded with too much video footage regarding the death of the president. It felt really exhausting just by looking at each picture depicting the events that follows after the news of the president's death was reported.

The story also felt to have really slowed down in contrast to the previous two chapters.

The Verdict:
Ang Sumpa remains to be an interesting story full of detective and logistical work. I just hope that with the appearance of a new character and the revelation of a suspect in this chapter, it won't just be a coincidence that both of them appeared on the same chapter of this story.

So far this story is still recommended to those who love plots that are solved with logic. Wherein subtly the clues that could help solve this case have been planted underneath our eyes from the very beginning.

Comics: Ang Sumpa ~ Kabanata 2: Ang Silid

Andoyman Komiks

Ang Sumpa was uploaded in the internet by Andoyman last year. At the same time the whole chapter 2 was also uploaded. The 2nd part of this chapter mainly goes about the clues that Arman has discovered in the President's room. This has led him to conclude that the President may have not committed suicide and he was murdered instead. The chapter ends as Arman discovers a creepy message in the President's cabinet.

The Good:
The cover art for this chapter is stunning. It would leave a mark if this really happened. It would be really a sad sight to see the image as the body of the President of the Republic of the Philippines as he is being carried off by the police.

This second chapter of Ang Sumpa was an enjoyable read. It teaches us that in life, sometimes, one would always need to pay better attention at the small things. For those small things may be the ones that are really important.

A nice cliffhanger was left to us through the mysterious identity of 23.

The Bad:
I just wish that the creators of Ang Sumpa would now release the story through a complete chapter instead of giving us 2 parts per chapter. They really give the readers a lot of suspense in waiting for the next chapter of the story.

Hopefully, the reason why Ang Sumpa is the title of this series would be enlightened to us in the next chapter.

The Verdict:
This 2nd chapter is definitely worth the wait. As it begins with a game of hide and seek, the creators of Ang Sumpa leaves us with a disturbing message of playing hide and seek with death.

Andoyman has definetly planted a great story. I just can't wait to see how big this story will go. From the looks of it, the creator will take this story beyond the edges of logic and darkness that we could predict. It would keep our brains rushing and thinking as to what could happen next.

Comics: Ang Sumpa ~ Kabanata 2: Unang Bahagi: Ang Silid

"Natagpuang patay ang Pangulo ng Pilipinas
Bago 'to lumabas sa balita, mayroong mga
Napansin si Arman Darte (NBI) sa silid ng
Pangulo na magbibigay sa kanya ng duda kung
Nagpakamatay nga ba ito."

I was thinking of making the review for chapter 2 of Andoyman's Ang Sumpa once the second part is released. But I changed my mind and decided to make a review of part 1.

The first part of the second chapter starts us with a nice storytelling of a childhood incident that happened between President Enrique Ortega and Arman. Enrique had almost fallen off a cliff if it wasn't for Arman who helped him out of danger. Surely, this incident will never be forgotten by anyone who underwent any type of near death experience. This part ended with Arman thinking that the President's death might not have been due to a suicide at all. Murder was the primary cause that was playing on his mind.

This is one of the many interesting stories that can be found in Komikon.

The art and story are good. The only troublesome part is that its a bit of a struggle to wait for the next Komikon in hopes of getting the next part or chapter of the story. As a reader, the story aspires and gives us that feeling of knowing everything and later on being left in shock as the answers to our questions were just in front of our eyes from the very begining.

One of the best features of this comic is the cover and the two page spread that features the title of the comic. In the two page spread, the title divides the page horizontally. The illustrations portray Arman on the left and President Enriquez on the right. Above the title, a scene regarding their childhood is shown. However, below the title, the present situation is the one illustrated. This two page spread is really a nice concept.

Andoyman's work in Ang Sumpa might be the local detective counterpart of Trese. Instead of dealing with the paranormal, this comic will give us a view on how strong the mind is in solving cases by having a keen observation. So far, this is a must buy in every Komikon.

Comics: Ang Sumpa ~ Kabanata 1: 1:23 AM

One thing that I liked by wandering around the different booths during Komikons is venturing among the so-called indie comics. It's trying your luck if you're going to get a comic that you're going to love or well, just enjoy if you get bored. However, I must say I found another set of goodies  hehe. I didn't know much that the comics I bought were just as good as the ones I got from Macoy (creator of School Run). The title and the artwork of Ang Sumpa Kabanata 1 Unang Bahagi was the one comic that caught my attention from Andoyman's table. As I flipped for a few pages, my eyes brightened since the illustrations were good, the story well I just had to guess it could be written well since I don't usually read the story when doing this random buying of comics from artists I don't know much yet. Well suffice it to say that due to the good impression I had on that single comic, I bought his two other comics as well (Ang Sumpa Kabanata 1 Ikalawang Bahagi and Foodcourt. I think luck was on my side back then since I also got the last free copy of Palimos ng Kulangot, in which the person next to me was I think only looking for that comic title.

"1:23 AM. Natagpuang wala nang buhay ang katawan ng Pangulo ng Pilipinas. Nagpakamatay? O... Pinatay? Isang tao lang ang makakaalam." - Ang Sumpa

This is how the story is given a glimpse on its back cover on both parts of both comics. The story introduces a plot with the president being killed while he is being anticipated to arrive at a party. The story also introduces the characters Javier and Arman, whom I suppose would be the ones to solve the crime. Hehe, even though this 1st chapter just mainly gives an introductory plot of the story, I'm really looking forward in reading the next issues of this story. It'll give me a bit of gearing away from the paranormal investigation style that I a bit got accustomed of from reading the Trese series. But still I really am eager to get my hands on the next issue and also get to the part of the story that could tell us why the artist chose that title.
