Here's some good news to those fascinated with the Philippine mythological creatures. A documentary web series that tackles these creatures is available to be viewed online.
Creatures of Philippine Mythology is a new web series directed and produced by Jordan Clark (director of The Aswang Phenomenon). It aims to tackle the origin, history and evolution of the Tikbalang, Kapre, Bakunawa, Diwata, Tiyanak and Manananggal.
Familiar personalities, who had effectively presented these creatures to the public in various ways, were interviewed for this documentary. You'll get to see Budjette Tan (creator of Trese comics), Yvette Tan (writer of Waking The Dead), Karl R. De Mesa (writer of News of the Shaman) and Peque Gallaga (director of Shake, Rattle & Roll) in this web series.
Great visuals, music and research are seen in this work. Don't worry since English subs are available. Check out this web series that is free to be viewed at The Aswang Project YouTube channel.
"If we want to truly define ourselves as a people, then I think we should know what did our ancestors believe in." - Budjette Tan

ChopSoy made itself known, last Komikon 2015, by launching a 28-pages magazine. It features a lot of things on pop culture. Touching on the different types of arts, collections and comics, it aims both to educate and be a stress reliever by providing 3 pages to color.
Articles that caught my interest were Generation C, Among the First Komikeros and Tapping the Manix Cult. An interesting preview of Buster can also be seen, which will surely trigger a comic book reader's interest.
Be sure to buy a copy of this magazine when you see it.
Bookwatch is the official publication of the National Book Development Board (NBDB). This issue, which was edited by Chikiamco (co-creator of Mythspace), gives an insight on the current status of the Philippine Book Industry. It also shows how much has changed throughout the years. This is in regard to the books that we publish and the continued increase of Filipino readers, that encompasses those who read books in print and electronically. Some of the interesting things that I had read are about the 1st Bulilit Festival, the death of Martha Cecilia (writer for Precious Hearts Romance) and the upcoming titles of new books from the different publishers.
Feel free to read this magazine digitally for free. Just click on the link below which was provided by the editor through his twitter.
As I've said before, one should regularly check your local comic bookstores such as Comic Odyssey. Thus, I was able to get this DC Essentials for free.
Mainly this contains DC's most popular and highly successful series from Batman and Watchman up to Fables and Sandman of Vertigo. This contains a comprehensive list of the other comic titles out there in the market waiting to be touched upon by a new reader.
Never forget to check out your local comic bookstores for any surprises, freebies, new comics and other announcements that they might have. You'll never know what could be in store for you.
This is a nice freebie that one could get from Marvel courtesy of Comic Odyssey.
It features on the first 6 pages some advertisements on some of their upcoming comics to watch out this 2014. It just wondered me why the spelling of calendar is that way. Well this is a good calendar to use this year especially if you are a fan of the Marvel Universe. Be sure to always check Comic Odyssey's website weekly if there might be more freebies, new comics, and other announcements.
This is just a continuation of my earlier post. Click this to look at it "Part 1". This is my guide. well you could use this too if it helps :)
